Geochronology, whole rock and mineral chemistry as assessment tools for magma fertility and ore formation in magmatic-hydrothermal systems

Geologic field relationships combined with spatially resolved geochemistry and high-precision U-Pb geochronology of zircons allow quantification of magmatic and tectonic processes leading to ore formation, typically lasting a few hundred thousand years or less. Application of whole rock and mineral chemistry can be used as an exploration vectors in various Variscan to Miocene magmatic-hydrothermal systems of the Carpathian-Balkan region, having different geologic, tectonic and geodynamic history.
