Conveners: Ákos Török; Richard Přikryl, Magdalini Theodoridou
Stones, cement and other construction materials such as renders, binders, brick or adobe are widely used worldwide. The session addresses their exploitation, laboratory testing and use. It deals with the sustainable management of resources and also of quarry by-products and waste. Cement, brick, binders, adobe and industrialized mineral resources will be also discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on cementitious materials and their geological aspects. Field description, characterization, in situ and laboratory testing of these materials will form a part of the session with an emphasis on the re-use and recycling.
