Jurassic system of the Carpatho-Balkan realm and adjacent regions
Conveners: Michal Krobicki, Hans-Jürgen Gawlick, Jozef Michalik & János Haas
The Jurassic system in the Alpine-Carpathian-Balkan-Hellenic orogenic belt and adjacent regions is one of the crucial periods in the Mesozoic evolution: e.g., Pangea break-up and partial closure of the Neo-Tethys resulted in a completely new plate configuration yet not entirely understood and therefore controversially discussed. We invite contributions (talks, posters) in all fields, e.g. paleontology, sedimentology, geophysics, petrography, structural investigations, age dating, modeling to elucidate this enigmatic time period, important for the interpretation of the Late Triassic and Early Cretaceous geodynamic history and events as well. Regional and/or topic related studies are highly encouraged.
