New developments in Paratethys Research
Conveners: Mathias Harzhauser & Werner Piller
The geographic region governed by the CBGA was part of the Paratethys Sea during the Oligocene and most of the Miocene. Recently, a renaissance of Paratethyan stratigraphy led to new, partly controversial chronostratigraphic concepts. Still, however, the correlation with the international stages is far from being settled. In addition, numerous contributions shed light on paleoecological, paleogeographic and geodynamic developments of the region. We encourage our colleagues to present their most recent contributions in all fields of Paratethys research.
