Mineral Deposits in the ABCD Region
Conveners: Johann G. Raith, Frank Melcher

The Alpine-Balkan-Carpathian-Dinaride (ABCD) region hosts important resources of mineral raw materials in Europe contributing a significant percentage to the production of some commodities within the EU. The spectrum of ore deposits to be found in this region ranges from orthomagmatic chromite deposits in ophiolites, to hydrothermal porphyry to epithermal systems with base and precious metals (Cu, Au, Ag, Zn, etc. ), deposits of industrial minerals (e.g. magnesite, zeolite, perlite etc.) to supergene bauxite deposits. We invite contributions addressing various aspects of all kinds of mineral deposits in the ABCD region. Contributions bridging academic to applied research are especially welcome.
